Zermatt lies at the foot of the Matterhorn. The town's touristic development is closely linked to what is most probably the world's most famous mountain The vacation destination is a car-free zone, has preserved its original character and offers nearly unlimited possibilities as far as excursions are concerned.
During my visit (it was just a day trip) the weather was absolutely bright and mercilessly sunny. Practically perfect to get up to the top of Gornergrat, 3100 m. high, but not suitable at all to take photos in the narrow streets of Zermatt, because the lights and shadows were too sharp and too in contrast. So the quality of the photos of this gallery is very average and they have simply a documentary meaning.
