The flowers are sorted by color and then by number of petals, similar to the Turner & Gustafson method. (If you see a pink flower in the white section, its because while the most common color is white it can and was found as a different color.)

You can also search by using the browser's Find function and typing in the first several letters of the flower's scientific name.

I used numerous sources for identifying each image and have begun to make notations on the Species Gallery page of what simple characteristics I've used to identify the wildflower.

In each Species gallery I've generally added images of both the flower and the leaves/plant for each native wildflower to help in identification. I've also included the same species from different locations within WA state. I've generally placed sub-species and varieties in the Species Gallery and not in a separate Gallery with a detailed description of the distinguishing characteristics and latest information from ITIS and USDA of species and ssp./var. identification.

Coordinates for each wildflower were collected with a Garmin handheld GPS. I've started adding the coordinates in each images Comment Section. Otherwise the coordinates (WGS84)and elevation are embedded in the metadata of each "original" sized image, or can be found by clicking "View map" under each image. Information on where the wildflower, including elevation, was found is also included with the notation for each species. [Jeffrey's EXIF Viewer can be used to see all image metadata if used on "original" size images]

All images where shot under unaltered natural light, with the same camera and lens in RAW and used identical minimal post processing to preserve color fidelity, consistency and naturalness.

This is a work in progress and will continually be added to and sometimes changed over time. As of Jan. 2013 I have a bit over 220 (Feb. 2014 = 270; Feb. 2015 = 300) different species. If you see any incorrect information please leave me a comment.
