Since 1910.

At a time when many long established shops and big high street names are closing, it's good to see that some family businesses are still trading.
I'm not sure if Hanrattys have been selling shoes since this shop was built but they are certainly there for as long as I can remember.

Excellent photo of a fine looking old building and a store that I would patronize if I lived there. V.

Nice shot of an old style shop; I think it was a good choice to keep a sliver of the street in on the left for context. I'd hate to be in the small store shoe business these days. The impact of the Interwebz might be limited by the fact that shoes are generally something that you NEED to physically try on (probably more for women than men; a size X guy's shoe tends to be a size X always) but they also have to contend with the stores in "one stop shopping" mega malls. In one former home suburb there were two or three shoe sellers in the "high street" but none by the time I left. In another, there are still two hanging on.
