Just look at this sweet face. You'd never think it belongs to a cat which denies his owners a weekend lie-in.
Toffee is the default alarm clock in our house.
At the first sign of life -it could be traffic on the road outside or the central heating turning on- he takes up position outside our door and begins his morning routine.
Soft meows, loud meows. desperate meows, persistent meows, 'I haven't been fed in a week' meows, standing up on his hind legs and rattling the door handle, rubbing his paws under the door in the hope of opening it.
He keeps it up until one or other of us can tolerate it no longer, gets up, and feeds him.
While this activity usually coincides with the alarm clock going off during the week, and he has actually woken us on a couple of occasions when the alarm failed to go off, it is not quite so welcome at the weekends.
