St Brigid's Day

The feast of St Brigid is celebrated on February 1st.
St Brigid, who was born at Faughart, not far from here, is one of Ireland's most important saints.
February 1st also marks the first day of spring.

Interesting; I didn't realise until now that not only are your seasons the reverse of ours but the official start date of each season is a month out as well. Here summer started in December and runs to the end of this month; autumn, the reflection of your spring, doesn't arrive until 1 March.
