Paid a quick visit to Dublin today to catch up with a good friend from my
college days.
We went to Dublin Castle and visited the exhibitions in the Chester Beatty Library.
The library, which has been described as one of the best museums in Europe by Lonely Planet,
houses a collection of manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints, drawings and books from Asia, the Middle East, north Africa and Europe which Beatty collected and donated to the Irish state.
This carved head by Edward Smyth is on the Chapel Royal which unfortunately
seemed to be closed when we were there - or maybe we just couldn't find the right door!
