20-Jul-2012

Normally my job keeps me office bound with little opportunity for photo taking during the day.
Yesterday I had a marking which took me to Oldbridge House on the banks of the River Boyne for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between our local college and Dublin City University.
After the formalities were finished I managed to take one or two pics before returning to the office.
This was the site of the famous Battle of the Boyne when the Protestant King William of Orange defeated the Catholic King James - a date still celebrated by Unionists in Northern Ireland on July 12th.

a contentious event that still nourishes bitterness...fine shot of this place, although the building's primness belies the true spirit of Ireland..
