Scaling New Heights.

I came home for lunch today to find that Toffee had made his way
to the top of our kitchen dresser and was making himself comfortable in this basket which I had bought with the intention of re-organising the cutlery drawer. I guess I may have to re-think that plan!
I am finding it hard to motivate myself to take a PAD as the weather has turned unseasonably cold and miserable.
I am pondering the wisdom of taking and posting mediocre shots just to fulfil my PAD obligations or would I
be better processing and posting images which are languishing on the hard drive?

Sweet little face! I think we all have to do what feels right. "Mediocre" can't really be defined precisely anyway. Just post an image every day, taken that day or not, outstanding or not. It lets us see the world through your eyes.

Toffee is just too cute, and such a smart kitty! A lovely portrait of him. I can understand your PAD dilemma; I participated in bi-weekly challenges for years, but in the end even that became too much pressure and time commitment, although I think I did some of my best work for them. I can't even imagine doing it on a daily basis. I finally stopped seriously participating after winning a "grand slam" in one challenge. So I would say maybe it's better to work on languishing images than posting images that you're only posting to keep up with PAD. BTW the weather here is much better! V.

Cats are so smart and Toffs is no exception. A wonderful portrait of him. "V"
Here is my take on PaD. I am in Year Five of mine and sometimes it becomes difficult, but to me it is a challenge that I enjoy. It keeps me looking. Without it I might not.

A lovely photo of Toffee Mairead. v If you are feeling a bit presssured by having to
produce a PAD I would stop. Even if you start again at some future date you probably need a break now. I am sure that I and many others enjoy your photos and especially the comentary which goes with the photos but they would also understand if you take a break.

So cute! What a great catch of Toffee doing his thing. I don't do PADs but I'd not take it to seriously, your photos stand good on thier own, V

Cute shot. I'm with you on the PAD deal. I haven't missed a day since 1/1/10, so I'm hesitant to stop, but I too have many photos from days past that I'd like to get to!

Yep, that is a cat being a cat all over. I miss my cat very much - yours is doing exactly what mine would have done given even half a chance.

Cats always find the best bed in the house. So cute!
As far as your PaD dilemma, I suppose you should reconsider your reason for PaDding.
Are you doing it as a blog? To show the day's hilights? Or are you doing the PaD to take one really great shot every day?
I stopped doing the Monthly challenges because my time limitations meant that I was posting 'not so great' shots just to meet the Challenge quota. But, I view my PaD differently from my other galleries. My PaD is just a pictorial example of something that caught my eye on this particular day. I don't have expectations of posting excellent work in my PaD. It is impossible to take a perfect photo every day when I'm working a job and at home. Save the excellence for when you retire.

I love Toffee and she is doing one of the two things cats do well. One is to fill their curiosity and the second is to snooze anywhere they want. As far as the PAD, I wouldn't worry about it. You have no obligation to feel compelled to do it. Enjoy the art of photography when you want. Toffee Rocks!!!

This is far from mediocre. It's a great pet portrait of a cute kitty being a cat. V.

Toffee is the cutest little kitty in the world! Excellent capture Mairead! V

He's clearly a very clever cat.
I share your PAD dilemma. I've posted pictures that I wouldn't have considered fit for sharing just to keep the PAD record intact. And felt the pressure when there are other things happening. Then I think how good it is to have a challenge, it is too easy to find reasons not to, or ways to make it easier - that is what makes it really challenging.
Either way, its all good as long as you keep clicking.

PAD is quite an exersize..so long ago now but I think I did it for 2 yrs ( like many of us almost a decade ago ) Personally I found going to occasional more productive. At the moment I'm posting images which have languished too...takes the pressure off and brings the enjoyment back.
LOL...back to the stores for a second basket I'm thinking for Toffee has found the warmth too good to relinquish
