Brass Band

Dundalk Brass Band getting ready to play at the launch of the Tree of Remembrance on a very cold December night. The Tree is a project initiated by the local Rotary club and members of the public can place a ribbon on the tree in memory of someone who was special to them. Funds raised go to help a number of charities.
Handheld with high ISO so the pic doesn't bear close scrutiny.

Olympus E-P1
1/8s f/4.0 at 19.0mm iso1000 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Looks good to me - thing about these kinds of shots is that it is the emotion and story it tells that matters, not "technical perfection." Some of the most moving photos in history were technical crap, but shine because of what the person who took it saw. Voted.

Many candids don't, but they give a very good sense of place and time anyway. In this case the lighting and heavy clothing speak to the coldness of the winter night, and the body language and faces to the spirit of camaraderie.

Amazing they can make their fingers work on a cold brass instrument on a cold December night!

Nice to see people gathering like this despite the cold. They're even smiling!
