Weather

The weather is an unfailing subject of conversation in Ireland. It's a safe topic among strangers but even friends and family will converse about the weather. I don't know if it's because our weather is so changeable and generally so disappointing that we talk about it so much. While thankfully, the Irish weather is rarely life-threatening, it's prone to being cold, damp and miserable, and even our summers are often disappointing. While April and early May brought beautiful warm sunny days, the weather is now unsettled, with lots of showers and strong winds.

Nice work! Clever for the weather challenge entry!

Whatever the light outside, the light inside was strong and direct. As a result the paper's very sharp; sharp enough for me to see that you still have "old school" (degrees F) temperature measures over there. We phased those out in the mid-70's; the temperatures were given in both for about a year then it was exclusively Celsius. About the only thing that's still often given in old units are people's height. Say "It'll be 55 degrees" to anyone under about 60 (who isn't an American immigrant) here and you'll most likely get a blank look.

Unsettled can be good too. At least it's not boringly predictable ;-)
