It was serendipity, nothing more, nothing less, which led
my husband to buy these novels by Japanese writer
Haruki Murakami last night.
Less than twelve hours later Japan was rocked by a massive earthquake
and devastating tsunami. Television footage looks like something
from a disaster movie, reminding us of the forces of nature and
the frailty of human life.
I am never going to complain about the Irish weather again - it might
be miserable a lot of the time, but it's rarely life-threatening.
