As fashions changed and cast iron bedsteads were thrown out, they
were often used as gates. Now, of course, they would command a
pretty penny in salvage yards or antique shops

Yes, I remember seeing the iron headboards used as gates when I was a youngster. They made for an interesting decoration! Lovely rich colors and tones in your photo. Nice work! V
