Wishing

I'm wishing for a Fairy Godmother who could wave her magic wand
and fix the economy. I doubt that the IMF fits the bill of Fairy
Godparent and whatever bailout we get will come at a price.
I wish the political leaders, the bankers, the investors, the property
developers and all those who led the ordinary folk of Ireland astray
could be made pay in some meaningful way for their mistakes,
their greed, their betrayal. I wish that another generation of young
people aren't lost to emigration, that families won't have to dread
the prospect of Christmas, that the desperate won't be driven to
suicide.
And while I'm at it, I wish she'd find a cure for my sore throat.

Holy Cow... that's a heavy burden for one fairy. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Wonderful work and thoughtful narrative. HOpe your sorethroat passes.

Well, your fingers (both shutter and keyboard) are a substitute for the throat. It's going to be a long road for the other things unfortunately. (And the cynic (realist?) in me knows that those who caused it will take care of themselves first.) Good angle to the light here, bringing out all of the depth and textures and giving it a "faerie" atmosphere.

It's definitely belt-tightening time all over. Hope your throat gets better soon - I'm sure that's one thing the Fairy Godmother *can* fix.... :o)

That fairy's going to have work overtime.

Hope your throat is better. Try some Krupnik. The economy is certainly hurting in the US, but it sounds worse there. I hope it gets better for you soon.

Maybe she could start with the Throat and do the economy in the morning. With estimates of cuts in the UK varying from £600 to £6000 per family per annum know one in their right mind will be splashing out on Santa. I hate to think what the pay back will be for a country after a bail out.

the dire days ahead may be too much for this little fairy to rectify...the manipulators have already done the damage...yet as usual they will escape responsibility for throwing so many people's lives into turmoil..and indeed hardship..

That poor fairy carries a huge burden of wishes, and I hope she is listening to you. The first positive sign will be to clear your sore throat. And after that, she can start on the more serious of the ones listed above it. In these post-Celtic tiger days, all we are feeling now is the depth of his scratches and bites.

Well... the sore throat should be do-able! :o)
