Staring At The Sun

I'm trying to squeeze the last drop out of summer, buying sunflowers to
keep the illusion of warm summery days alive a little longer.
All the better when the evening sunlight catches them just before we sit down
to a suitably Mediterranean dinner of meatballs cooked by my husband to a
genuine Italian recipe.
Our son got his Junior Cert results today -he did well- and rather
than going to a restaurant to celebrate, he requested the meatballs
followed by a large portion of ice cream.

This is a gorgeous drop of summer sunshine! V
There are over 463,000 sunflowers in bloom at Longwood Gardens. So pretty. :)

Beautiful capture, Mairead. The sunlight enhances the colors in the sunflower nicely. Congratulations to your son! ~V~

I thought this looked a little familiar; a bit similar to the shot for 1 September, though with a changed angle and closer in. Van Gogh would be proud of you. 8^>
I like the level of detail in this, in particular the pollen grains which give a "reach out and touch it" feel.
