Puzzled

I'm puzzled by this field. Ever since the grass was cut, this is the
stubble which has remained. It has a parched reddish brown
appearance even though there has been no shortage of rain
and all the other fields are green.

Ah, I was waiting for the story here because this looks more like the sort of field that you'd find in MY neck of the woods... though not after rain. Unless someone went overboard with the herbicide trying to control weeds...
