Sorry Ethel, the natives were doing this race for Hundreds of years near Keller Wash. and the promoters of the Stampede asked them to come and race in Omak esp since the dam was raising the water level around their Keller race site. Nez Pierce warriors were just awesome riders and the Colville Confed tribes still the best in this event

I lived on the colville reservation for 18 years, and never missed the stampede. It is the greatest experience anyone can ever have. Great rodeo, great food and fantastic people. Ilive in another state now, but when I can Iwill come back to see the stampede, friends and family.

Originally from Alaska, I lived in Omak for over a year. During that time, I became to know some of the Indian people of that land. This "race" as it is called now, is in fact a tradition of these Indian people. A warrior and his horse.. Strength, skill and speed.. together as one. Long live the traditions of the Colville people and indigenous people everywhere.

What about horse racing where hundreds of horses get put down each year? Auto racing Ultimate fighting?
I was at this race and asked the starter the history of this event This race has been done for over a hundred years when this was an All-Indian rodeo, these horses and riders train all year for this event to qualify and only the best rider and horse get the chance. The committee doesn't what an inexperienced weekend rider or horse hurting them self when coming down the hill. These horses love to run and chomp at the bit and nash thier teeth for a chance to run this course; the riders have the hardest time controlling the horse because they just want to run. What is worse is seeing horses in small and large towns pended up in small areas with no one to ride them because the people lost interest and basically abandon the horse to a yard or a small field.

My name is Kacey Scacco my father and my uncle live in Omak I have visited twice and I was even able to go to the race and it is an experience that no one can forget, I loved it, I already plan on when I retire I am going to live in Omak. There are rights that the PRCA and the Omak Stampede hold and to the best of all parties knowledge, you were not given the permission to use any of the photos you took. Although they are very nice photos and they do belong to you, you are not the owner of the rights to reproduce and market our events.
