Tenino,, The Town I Grew Up In

Tenino Washington was and is a small town in southwestern Washington. In the 50's and 60's , it was home to loggers, railroad workers as well as workers in Olympia. Natives in the 1800's had a big " Swap Meet " in the valley and later came loggers, and five Sandstone Quarry Pits. Cement was the " Kiss Of Death " to sand stone uses , but mosty the old builds in town and even Olympia were made or partly made from sandstone. As A Paperboy in the 60's , I knew many of the " Old Timers " first hand. My dad ,grand dad, and grand grandad were raised in the area. Today , the town was lost it's luster as most shopping is done in a city at a bit " Mega Store " and the wonderful sandstone buildings are looking " Worse For Wear ". Still though , if you look, it's history is still there. A good place to go is the " Old Depot Museum ", at the town's park which is open on weekends. It's is also near on of it's stone quarries which has the old town swimming pool were we all learned to swim in it's " Icy Waters "... ( I will be adding more to come, so stop back again )
