Binder

Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, Alberta

A partially restored McCormick-Deering binder, of the horse-drawn variety.
The binder cut the grain and collected it into neatly-tied bundles, or sheaves, which were then formed into stooks by workers.
After the stooks were sufficiently dried by sun and wind, workers collected them on hay racks
to transport them to the final stage of harvesting, the threshing machine.
