Certainly not a prize-winning shot, but IMHO, adequate given the circumstances.
It was on a fence, about a foot off the ground, in the darkest, shadiest part of the garden.
No tripod on hand, no external flash either--only the built-in flash on the camera.
I used the cardboard roll from toilet paper to act as a tube/funnel to direct the light
from the camera flash to to the subject, since the lens was too close to the snail
for the flash to have any useful effect.
