October 10

Sugar Land, Texas

Confederate Rose Mallow
My two Confederate Rose trees are blooming.
This summer, the power company came in my yard to trim my trees.
It is part of the "HOMELAND SECURITY" laws, passed after 9/11.
Our trees cannot come within 12 feet of any power or phone lines.
One of my Mallow trees was about 8 feet from the power lines at the back of the property.
So they cut it, almost in half, which made me furious. They were careless in cutting, too.
The trees grow to about 15 feet and stop, so it would have never gone closer to the line.
But, the trimming didn't seem to hurt the mallow, because in a few months, it has completely
regained what was lost.

I understand your rage Lynn! When I see the workers come with their gas-engined saw, I almost get a heart attack!
This is such a wonderfully colored rose!
