Freshly caught Texas shrimp!
Shrimping season opened yesterday. NOAA said this month that the brown shrimp harvest in the western Gulf,
which includes the waters off of most of Louisiana and all of Texas, is likely to hit 59.2 million pounds,
some 5 percent above its 50-year average.
Texas shrimpers are expected to account for almost half of that with 27.4 million pounds - almost 6 percent above average.
