Disembarking at 9:30, we wandered out into the terminal to wait for mom and Peter. It didn't take long, as they had spent the night in the adjoining parking lot. As always when they meet us somewhere in the RV - it was a meeting to remember!
We left Whittier, a pretty little town, drove through the one-way tunnel that traffic shares with the rail system, and set out on our way to Anchorage. We stopped at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, which came highly recommended to me from Imelda (from the Fodors Africa board) as a very humane conservation center. She was right - the spaces are so vast that you actually have to drive around! Well, theoretically younger people than us could walk the whole park, but this was easier having our chauffeur drive us around! (Peter). It was a wonderful afternoon, we saw lots of indigenous animals to the area.
Leaving around suppertime, we made our way on the incredibly scenic Turnagain Arm highway to the Golden Nugget RV Park in Anchorage.
