Beginning the Backburn

We have had, and still have, some rather large bush fires here. One of the few ways to counter these monsters is to control burn a line when you can in front of them. This is behind our house on Friday night and the Rural Fire Service started this one. "Dads Army" the Community Fire Unit of which I am a very minor member gave them a hand to control it. The burn was very successful. We have sheltered behind the black line since. The fire that threatened us the night before had destroyed over 200 homes already.

So glad you are safe!! Quite a drama and the shot reflects that with its moody glow. BV
