Still decorating

19 August 2004

121.
Have you ever had that feeling when you really, really wish that you hadn’t started something, but know that since you have started it you have to persevere with it until it’s finished? I have slowly come to realise that I hate decorating, and that is the reason that the house is in a perpetually unfinished state. There is only one wall remaining to be stripped, filled, sanded, primed and painted (that’ll be the one in this image)... and therein lies the problem, the sheer amount of work. It will look nice when it is finished, especially when we get the new carpet and furniture. In the meantime, this wall remains to be done, and that is stopping me from getting out there and doing something more interesting (like castle hunting, or writing articles... well, okay, scratch the writing articles bit). That is why you have to make do with this exceptionally dull photograph as my PaD.

Here we say owning a home is like painting the Sydney Harbour Bridge....by the time you finish it, its time to go back to the beginning & start all over again !!

Stu, I know what you mean and I think everybody had this feeling once! ;-)
So I wish you all the best and the strength to finish the job!
Cheers

This reminds me of a Monty-Python scetch:
"Ooooh .. whats on the tellie"
"Looks like a penguin"
No, no ... not ON the tellie"
Some days it's hard to muster motivation ... musta been the penguin!

To answer your question, YES... I thought it would be a fun project to paint my bathroom, and 15 minutes into it I was already getting frustrated. It always looks like fun on those home improvement shows :)
