The burial register of Iwade church records the burial of John Staples Keddell, aged 7, on 17.11.1870. There is a railed, raised gravestone in the churchyard with a partially legible inscription reading 'In memory of John Staples Keddell / .... the.../ ...[G]eo[rge]...?in ?anno/.....sheerness/Parish of Sheppey/November ?9 18?5/ Ed... L... R' I assume this a member of the same family.

Hello from Christchurch, New Zealand. I would be very grateful to have a copy of the 1797 map of Sheppy from Hasted's history. My GGGgrandfather was Clerk of the Cheque in the Dockyard 1822 - began in RN Dockyards as clerk to the Master Attendant in Sheerness, 1886, leaving for Falmouth in 1805. GGGuncle John Staples Keddell, his son, was a doctor in Sheerness for nearly 50 years. Don't want to 'nick' Trevor Edwards' picture without permission!
