Rancher Bill Slaven, left, with his brother Jack Slaven on the right. Their grandparents, Michael and Bridget Slaven, both from County Tyrone, Ireland, settled in the hills west of Zamora in the late 1800s. The trial is held on Bill Slaven's property in the Zamora Hills. In the center is Dr. John Madigan, head of the UC Davis Veterinary Emergency Response Team. Following the catastrophic Yolo County wildfires in October 2006, Dr. Madigan and his crew from UC Davis cared for hundreds of injured sheep at the Slaven Ranch.
