The Agua Tower
This is the tower located more to the east of the fortress. It is known by this name for being next to the aqueduct that conducts the water from the Generalife to the Alhambra.
This was a defensive tower, and it also protected the Royal ditch that distributed the water all over the Alhambra. This water came from the "Darro" river, and through a system of water reservoirs, water tanks and wells, the water was driven and distributed to the whole city of the Alhambra and the districts near to it.
Of the original tower, of great dimensions and three floors with no decoration, only ruins remain, since it was destroyed in 1812, as well as the "Cabo de la Carrera" Tower.
