Around 1830, thunderstorm came over Churchill with heavy rain, strong wind and then suddenly the sound of the wind increased. At that moment, the roof of the Lazy Bear Lodge ripped off as the insulation and roof flew across the street. It could have been a small twister or strong microburst.
