The Grand Canyon truely deserves its name. While I can't say that it was more than I expected, it certainly was not less either. We only had two days, at the South Rim and did not have time to go down into the canyon itself. The South Rim is at 7,000 feet (2100m) elevation, so the weather in June is a very pleasant 85F (29C) daytime, and 45F (7C) at night.

One thing that did surprise me is how well the national park itself is organized and operated. We never encountered any lines, and while we drove to most of the hiking trails and outlooks, we did eventually discover and use the park bus transit system that made it easier to get back to whereever we had parked. We stayed in Tusayan just below the south entrance to the park, but I will definitely try to stay at one of the lodges in the Grand Canyon Village if we ever go back.
