This zoo is located by the Christo del Picacho statue. I am not a big fan of zoos in general, because I hate seeing animals caged up, but I visit them because I love seeing different live animals. I felt even worse for the animals at this zoo, because they have tiny cages and nothing to keep them occupied. What made it even worse is that everywhere you looked there were vultures on top of the cages and in the trees, almost as if they were waiting for the animals to die. Still, it was amazing to see the Jaguars, the monkeys, snakes, and other wildlife.
Not a good sign for the animals at the zoo
This guy's missing a foot
Zopilotes everywhere
This little fox kept pacing in circles
Agouti
aka Guatusa
These guys could get out of their cage, but they kept running back inside.
Watching over the guatusas
Beautiful coat
Thirsty Jaguar
I wish I could have gotten this picture in the wild...but I might not still be alive if we met in the forest.
small, but solid muscle
Unfortunately this Jag kept going around in the same circular path as well
Over and over and over
This guy didn't seem to mind being in there, he just napped the whole time
Man! I can't believe I got caught.
nervous little ocelot
An escaped monkey, that climbed into the cage with different monkeys
Monkey see, monkey do
The less regal side of a peacock
It's almost like two different birds stuck together
That's more like it
Mica, apparently it clubs people with its tail.
Crystal and the mica have a stare down
Honduran Emerald Tree Viper
This thing was beautiful, I loved the blue scales in with the bright green (very poisonous though)
Who dares wake me from my slumber
Owl toes
