This was a hike from Sand Flats Recreation Area into Negro Bill Canyon. I was exploring a route I had seen---or thought I had seen---in Google Earth. I found out that the route existed. My starting point was Sand Flats Road near the radio tower.
The rock is wet from rain that passed through the area about 30 minutes earlier. The day started off overcast but dry. After I had hiked for about an hour it started to rain and soon became a downpour. I took shelter under an overhanging boulder until it let up, then continued hiking down the minor trail into the canyon. After some brief exploring upstream from the pictured site, I returned to the car.
Although a recurrence of rain was on my mind, the thought did not occur to Joe Tripod, whose only concern was a steady stance for photos like this one.
