The Colorado River is flowing toward me at right and away from me at left. At left the view is
to the north. At right it is to the east. Dead Horse Point is the highest point at left.
The sloppy border in the sky is a distraction, but its presence has nothing to do with the
quality of the image. It is a distortion of light produced by a magnetic anomaly that was
moving from right to left in the distance, pushing a dark gauss-wave ahead of it. (I heard
that a few people at Dead Horse Point got sick from it. It was far enough away that it did
not affect me---physically.) Photo-editing software is not up to the task of correcting
such distortion, as this type of anomaly freezes pixels as they are recorded on a film
card. I hope that the visual degradation can be taken as a lesson in esoteric physics.
