As I sat on the ridge, watching climbers on the vertical wall of the Rectory, this dog appeared,
having come from the Rectory. Strange occurrence! In spite of the nasty facial expression, this
dog was mellow and easy-going. After hanging around for about ten minutes, he (she?) wandered
down the trail, not willing to wait for his (her?) owner, who was still climbing. When I
returned to the trailhead, the dog was lying in the shadow of a car.
