Looking west at the mesa of Dead Horse Point State Park. Here the road is blissfully smooth, unlike
some nightmarish sections elsewhere. This view showed me how wrong I was to expect to see only
horizontal layers of sandstone. The strata under the park are slightly tilted (upward to the left).
The light green slope (underlain by other strata) to the left of the road is tilted even more.
