Native growth protection area

view map

This sign stands behind the Wal-Mart store at a shopping center in Auburn, Washington that originally was called “the Supermall.” The native growth protection area is a fenced-off strip of land between the store’s rear parking lot and the Interurban Trail.

I saw this sign when riding my trike around the store during a pleasant detour from the trail. This view looks northeast: the Interurban Trail is about 30 feet (9 m) behind the sign and is obscured by the vegetation. A connector trail (sidewalk) led to this area.
