I bought the miter saw in November 2005, when my wife and I decided to replace all the interior doors and molding in the house. For four years thereafter, this box sat in the garage, waiting to be re-used. During that time, the only duty it saw (pun intended) was as a platform for storing other things. In 2006, it was a table support during a yard sale.
During a "clean up the garage" phase in April 2009, I accepted the fact that the box was not destined to have a noble second life. I made the difficult but inevitable choice: it had to go. A box cutter reduced it to numerous smaller pieces, all of which went into the blue recycling container at left. On May 6, 2009 it was carried away to become new paper. This picture was taken after I had started to cut it up---note that the top flaps are missing. Getting rid of things that "might be useful one day" is not easy for a pack rat.
