Janovas - Aragon Spain


In the 1950's and 1960's the Village of Janovas in the Spanish Aragon Region of the Pyrenees was forcibly evacuated to clear the area for a new dam.
The inhabitants were reportedly subjected to a reign of terror until they left.
The dam was started but never completed and the army was sent in to render the village unihabitable to stop the residents returning.
The village still stands abandoned today in a stunningly beautifull valley.

What a beautiful place, but so sad. No wonder the people did not want to leave their homes. Thank you for sharing this with us. You always have such interesting trips and information. The bipeds are very nice to take you to these places. You and I are a lot alike - anyplace with water is a good place! Have a good wednesday. Hugs.
