Tim, sorry so long in replying. The 717 does indeed take beautiful IR photos, with the addition of a couple of filters (I used the Hoya IR72 and a ND+8 and shot in nightshot mode). One warning though, the eyes of human subjects look blackened and hollow in IR portraits. I digitally added these ladies' eyes from another shot to get them to look "normal".

These are all beautiful. I am narrowing my search for a new digicam and am considering the DSC-V1 and the DSC-717. I could expect IR results like this from these cams? With the addition of a few filters?
