the guy obviously talks to birds... nice one kabayan i hope you photograph every endemic and visiting avian species in the Philippines.

Ted, the "string" is actually a viscous liquid oozing out of the fish's mouth when the prey was squeezed by the raptor's claws. It appears that the fish had been dead for a while, and floating on the pond water, when the bird snatched it.

Incredible capture. The light, sharp focus, the tiny interesting detail of a thread trailing from whatever is in the bird's talons.
