I vividly remember this sad day in history in that I was in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort George G. Meade, MD, a short distance away. As I recall the funeral procession occurred on a Monday and I took the occasion to attend. A moment in time that will never be forgotten.

I have been slowly scanning some of my old slides and this one, needless to say, surfaced as a moment to remember.
