2nd March 2008 - change of tactic

On day zero-5, I have decided on (or rather fallen into through the mire of gloopiness that characterises depression) a new tactic for the last few days of my PAD……..cack.

Yep, despite hatching a plan on a sleepless night a couple of nights ago, when I was worrying about things generally, to go out on a week of studio shots and lucid prose, I’m going to cave into murky, low saturation, grainy, gloomy grab shots.

Well, that’s my current idea anyway.

Well, that’s mainly because I’ve been sleeping or watching detectives for most of today and poor old DM has been sat in the corner, keeping his own company and strumming his guitar along to the rhythm of my breathing and Archie’s snores. I don’t snore you see. In case you’d not guessed, this shot was taken from my prostrate position on the sofa, shot wide open and on 1600iso because I couldn’t get off my own arse to get a better one. I did think he'd hate it but he said "I look like a mad guitar axeman" in a manner that suggested he felt that was positive so I thought I'd risk posting it.

I’ve decided that I’m going to try taking the line of least resistance for a bit and see if I can regain my sanity more quickly that way. Perhaps I’ll get a better idea before the end, who knows. I’m up and down like the proverbial yo-yo at the moment so maybe I should try to make a canter for a pic at a point in the day when I’m on an up.

Still, I suppose that the queen of cack should go out on the same note as she’s focussed on throughout, except that of course she’d normally be up there in the super-saturation bracket rather than the desaturated one.

Weirdly, I never thought for a moment I’d still be typing my thoughts out on a daily basis almost five years after starting it just to do something while DM was doing his PAD. Equally I never thought I’d move to Cornwall and make a new life here either. So, what with one thing or another I’ve surprised myself so perhaps a few un-colourful shots is just another surprise for myself.

In one of those weird quirks of fate that characterise any life, last year's shot was also desaturated!

I agree with Nicky, this is great ! It's so full of character and the angle is perfect.
