25th November 2007 - dead

This shot is a completely unexpected fluke.

I have managed, while travelling 200 miles today so I can be at a work meeting at 8am tomorrow, to drop my handbag and kill my camera.

I put my handbag on a hook on the back of a toilet door on Southampton Station and it fell to the ground (a fall from my head-height) and the camera is now broken.

I was trying to work out if I could recover it by taking out the battery/card etc but couldn’t make it work at all apparently. So, I borrowed a mobile phone off a colleague and took an emergency shot with the camera on it.

Last year - say cheese (again and again and again).

Later, I decided to see what was on my card and discovered this – I took it when I was trying to see if I could get the camera to work of the book on my knee on the train. So, now I know that the camera shutter and writing to card is working, I just can’t change any settings because they are all controlled through the display screen. So, now my only choice is “green mode” so that’s what it’ll be for the next few days I’m afraid!!!

That's very sad after you were so brave to use a toilet in Southampton station

Ouch !! I did this with my Rollei once, but fortunately it survived.

Treat yourself to the new G9, or perhaps DM might get you one for Christmas.
