27th June - axed

So, here we are on 27th June and it’s cold. I’m sorry I don’t care what the Met Office says about temperatures not being any colder than usual, I just don’t see it at all. In fact, it’s so cold we’ve had our fire going every night this week and tonight will be no exception. This shot jumped out at me while I was feeding the dogs and looking at the log basket.

I’m so thrilled with the fact that we’re getting the bathroom radiator heated by using the fire too – so when we go to bed we don’t get cold while performing our ablutions. I almost want to set up camp in the bathroom and stay there.

Today has been the first day we’ve not had more than an inch of rain in about a week but we’ve got more severe weather warnings in place for the weekend…..but still – we live on the top of a hill, which means we’re in a cloud for a lot of the time, but we’re unlikely to get flooded. Put it this way, if we get flooded, we’re all in trouble – at 1,000 feet above sea level if we go, we all do!

Really though, I do feel for many of our fellow Brits whose lives have been turned upside down by the flooding – thousands of homes across the country have been hit and there seems no respite for the poor souls sleeping in shelters and schools across Yorkshire and the Midlands. How I hope their part of our country dries out soon.

Today’s been a day full of axes – the axe fell on poor old Margaret Beckett and the less poor old Patricia Hewett earlier…..I expect there’ll be plenty more where they came from too – I reckon it’s going to be swinging all over Whitehall this week. I have said before, I reckon Brown has probably got more than Blair to offer, though now his day has come, I reckon I’m a bit scared really – he takes forever to make decisions and is just about the most sour-faced man I think I’ve ever seen. I know you can’t blame him for his looks but he’s got the sort of face that if I’d have pulled it, my Mum would have said ‘if the wind changes direction you’ll stay like that’!

Whatever next, I do think he’s also luckier than Blair in as much as he doesn’t have to fight himself before anything can get done, which was what it seems that Blair always had to do – I just hope there is someone acting as his conscience in the way that he did for Blair.

I’m signing off before getting the chop from David who has given up on ever getting an evening meal out of me tonight – 9.16pm and I’m just about to start it……I swear I get worse.

Hmmm - think I must have been on the wrong side of a few glasses of red last year, judging by my text....

I think everybody's Mum said that, my favourite was, 'You're not going out like that are you?'
I'm off now, I'm going to break the ice so I can have a bath, Southern Softies!

Stunning shot - based on the thumbnails, I was little bit concerned when your picture was next to Davids picture of one of your chickens..
