However unlikely it may seem, I do believe they can.
I have been out tonight (in case you’ve not guessed I’m ‘in the smoke’ today) with Sarah and once again we’ve revelled in the chance nature of our friendship and the wonderful treasures it has brought to both our lives. If anyone had ever told me I’d make such a great friend through advertising for one, I’d have thought they were insane – until it happened!
During the evening, I was talking to her about my own ‘grand plan’ and mentioned that I wanted to something altruistic like some sort of freely given public service. I mentioned that a friend of mine, who I met through helping her with her MBA, had once suggested I volunteer at a Uni as a mentor. Sarah was so kind as to say that I didn’t need to mentor anyone else, because I act as a mentor for her…….she made my day. Thank you Sarah for a truly delightful evening.
Thinking along the lines of the highly improbable, I overheard a conversation between two schoolboys on the bus. They were sharing an iPod, each with one earpiece – I can’t imagine how that sounded but anyway, they were deep in conversation about music.
My estimate is that they were probably about 12-13.
They were discussing the relative merits of the Jackson Five vs Marvin Gaye – can you believe it? I’d have probably been less surprised if they’d been chatting about Mahler or Beethoven!
I felt as though I was in a timewarp and had been transported back to 1973……
So, as I’ve said, fish do, indeed fly around these parts!!!
Last year, I was writing about dingbat fruitcakes!
