Colin ticked me off for being smug about my veggie patch the other day so I’m going to get told off again for this. I can’t believe how much it’s all grown over the last few days while I’ve been away – everything looks really fit and healthy. (Got to keep them pesky wabbits out now…..)
Anyway, because it’s all gone mad, I’ve been able to pick peas and these small but beautifully formed courgettes, all of which are going in our supper, along with home-grown basil too.
I’ve finally managed to get a combination of a lunch break on a day when I’d been in the office (so I could get out to the shops) and a space in my case (because in this weather I don’t need so many thick clothes and my toiletries stay at Shazbop’s these days).
These two things coinciding meant a trip to Alios to get a supply of my wonderful pasta flour. I bought four bags, stored two in my office for another day and brought two home, a whole one of which has already been used to make a mega-batch of pasta (glut of eggs) that’s now in the freezer. Not only that, but I got the best lunch Epsom has to offer from him too – a ciabatta roll, drizzled with olive oil and stuffed with strong provolone and salad. He sure knows how to make a girl like me happy.
So, tonight, home-made ribbon pasta (our hens’ eggs) with lightly sautéed veg from the garden, freshly cooked, topped with Twineham Grange (veggie parmesan). Simple, tasty and good for us.
Yes, I’m as smug as a smug thing and I’m not going to apologise for it!
Last year, I shot David's Ikeacam!
