Since I’ve been losing weight, we’ve relied on beans of various sorts for our protein quite a lot of the time. They’re the best low-fat source of protein available for veggies, especially if, like me, you’re not over keen on Quorn all of the time. One of the big downsides of vegetarianism (assuming you’re not going to miss meat as such) is that many of the veggie proteins are loaded with fat in one way or another – a disaster if you’re trying to lose weight.
DM said to me when we were in Sainsbury’s doing the shopping last week, ‘have we tried these ones?’ I said no, we hadn’t so I bought a pack. Just like that really, on a whim. I do this a lot and fly by the seat of my pants when it comes to using them!
Like all of the beans we use, I find them incredibly tactile and I do spend rather more time than I should admit just picking up handfuls and letting them slip through my fingers. There is something really comforting about it. But then, I’m a girl who likes to touch things so perhaps it’s just me being incredibly odd.
Anyway, I was thinking about a shot for today and these caught my eye so here they are – aren’t they a lovely colour?
Not quite sure yet how we’re going to cook them or what meal they’ll end up in but I am sure they will be delicious and will keep me on the straight and narrow path of my diet…..I’m hoping to lose another two pounds before going on holiday and if I achieve that, I’ll be happy.
Last year, I was shedding tears for two things!
