.....from my bird......
.....with that strange black thing clamped to your face.
Some of my colleagues think the place we’re working in today is a bit ‘low rent’ as it’s the cheaper version of the very swanky place next door. The bedrooms are smaller and have fewer ‘facilities’ and the whole place is modern, next to the Victorian grandeur of the swanky place.
Personally though, I really like this place. The meeting rooms are spacious and comfortable, there are good coffee/snack facilities and best of all, the outdoor space is really fabulous. A garden of really joyful exuberant planting, clearly done by by someone who really knows their stuff and then wait and see what happens, while playing referee to weeds and over-excitable plants.
If I ever manage to make our garden half as lovely as this, I will feel as though I’ve really achieved a great success.
So this morning then, on the way back from breakfast (in the swanky bit) to the meeting rooms (in the modern bit), I came across Mr & Mrs Mallard, sitting on a wall preening. I thought it looked incongruous and strange to see them perched on a wall so that’s why they’re here as my shot today……and the small matter of a sixteen hour working day again meant the opportunity for photos was extremely limited.
Mrs Mallard was getting a bit ‘shuffly’ and moved across closer to her hubby. He then spotted me and started giving me a look to say ‘keep away from my bird’. Apparently there was a family with chicks already born in one of the ornamental ponds but I didn’t see them.
We were oooohhhhhhhing and aaaaaahhhhhhhing last year.
