18th April 2007 - architects artists and angels

This shot really bears not much relation to my ‘life’ today other than being one of only a handful of shots I took so ‘it’ll do’!

I have been at a meeting in a building that some would say is ugly and indeed maybe it is from the outside, but when you go inside it, you realise the inside space is just about the most perfect working environment you can imagine. Suffice to say, I’m not talking about my own office although I won’t moan about our offices because I was around in the ‘Iceland’ days – anyone who knows my company will know what THAT means!

So, I digress, the company I went to visit occupies a tremendous building, which I am very envious of as a space to work in.

When the meeting was over, I jumped on a train to go and meet Gail, Nicky and Rose. The plan was 7pm at Victoria and I was a bit early so I did my usual ‘get off and walk’ trick that I am so fond of in London on a nice day when tubes are hot, smelly, sweaty and overcrowded and the pavements are cool and comfortable. I got off the train at Vauxhall, walked over Vauxhall Bridge, up the Vauxhall Bridge Road, through Pimlico and on to Victoria and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. These buildings, on the Vauxhall side of the bridge, are ones I have long admired architecturally so using them, in place of the architecturally beautiful building I’d been working in didn’t seem like too much of a leap of faith to me.

The four of us went to a gorgeous restaurant at the opposite end of the scale architecturally (it was like being in a Bedouin tent!) but it was just the right cosy ambience for a really fabulous evening with three amazingly nice pbase peeps. Lots of food, lots or red wine quaffed and lots of animated chatter followed until we were turfed out at 11pm then we all realised the time and had to go scurrying off for the last train home to all of our destinations. What a thrilling and charming evening I’ve had with my three friends who are certainly 'artists and angels'(the link y’see – geddit?)

I’ve been immensely lucky on this trip to have not needed to survive on M&S sarnies alone – I’ve now had two wonderful evenings with friends- thanks to all of you. Perfect!

Last year, Archie was trying his luck!

I had a great evening - thanks to the wonderful company of three like-minded souls ! Got home too late last night (err... early today !) to upload a PAD so it'll have to wait until tonight. Hope to see you again soon...
