It’s the school holidays at the moment so Cornwall is full of tourists and don’t we know it. We have, as you know, got DMs folks here and they said Eden was their ‘destination of choice’ for a day out today.
We didn’t really think of the impact of school hols on the place but it was heaving with families. It was a bit of a shock to our systems when we’re used to having the place more or less to ourselves.
Because of crowds and a certain amount of jading due to four visits in as many months for us, I decided to ‘pass’ on the biomes and explore more of the outdoor territory so I ambled around in the sunshine shooting pics of flowers and birds for the most part. There are loads of nice little nooks and crannies and you don’t fully appreciate that they’re there until you actually get up on the slopes and take a peek.
My cravings for a ‘Gaudi-esque’ look and feel to our garden have been fuelled by the mirror mosaics on the trees high up on the slopes. I have, since we came back from Barcelona, held a deep desire to make my own ceramic mosaic statues for our garden but like everything else here, the queue of things in my ambitions is just so long that there are probably about a dozen other things that are more ‘urgent’ at any point in time.
One of these days……after the day job, the house, the planting, the pebble mosaic path, the stained glass windows for the front door, the mosaic mirrors for the bathroom, the grand plan, the walking and a whole host of things that pop out of my mind and NEED doing now…..
On the way back to the car, we bumped into our ex-neighbours from the little cottage and then passed this row of stickers, stuck up by visitors as they leave. I got my ‘instruction’ for this from DM who ticked me off for my composition, though as always, he was right!
I was prickly last year.
