16th September 2006 - where are the knockers?

Given the increasing number of tits in the meta-gallery, I think this question stands on more than one level!

Today has been magical in all sorts of ways:

· The weather has been kind – beautiful sunshine, blue skies, almost no breeze and 70º
· The company has been excellent – DM and Patti – what more can a girl ask for?
· We’ve been to one of my favourite places on the planet (Minack), where I’m pleased to report that Patti had a revelation - she saw Rowena Cade's spirit! She commented that ‘I expected it to be half assed in a charming sort of way, I wasn’t prepared for this…… if a company had built this it would be spectacular, but one woman – wow’
· The weather has turned and that gave me this shot of a derelict mine building and a brooding sky.

I have bounced several other very cool shots because this turned out so nicely.

We had planned to get to the Cornish Bluegrass festival but failed because we ambled down to the pointy bit of Cornwall, stopping in a beautiful creek for lunch in a charming pub. Then we took Patti to show her what one woman’s passion could achieve over a lifetime of dedication at the indescribably splendid Minack. By the time we’d finished with that place, we’d run out of day so we decided to meander back along the coast road to St Ives, past bronze age settlements and tin mines.

This shot is of one of two ruined engine houses at Carn Galver. Some big, brooding clouds started popping over the horizon, giving this other worldly look to the place. I know you’re not supposed to point your camera at the sun but I saw the clouds and thought ‘what the hell’. So, here it is. Nearly the end of a fabulous day.

No, I didn’t see any knockers and no, I didn’t leave any food – does that make me a bad person?

In one of those strange quirks of fate, I was photographing derelict mine buildings last year too.

spectacular sky... the perfect backdrop to this sign of local industry... keep the knockers hidden away
